Brief Biography of the Organizers:

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Harald Schwarz (48) had made his studies in the field of Electrical Power Engineering at University of Technology Berlin from 1977 to 1982. Afterwards he joined the Institute for High Voltage Engineering at University of Dortmund for a five year research period, in which he also received his Dr-degree. From 1987 to 1994 Prof. Schwarz worked with the ABB company in Mannheim first in the Division for large transformers and afterwards in the high voltage switchgear division. In 1994 Prof. Schwarz became a full professor at BTU - Brandenburg University of Technology in Cottbus. Since that time he is head of the Institute for Energy Distribution and High Voltage Engineering. From 2000 to 2004 he was Vice Dean of the Faculty for Mechanical, Electrical und Industrial Engineering and since 2004 he is managing director of CEBra – Center for Energy Technology Brandenburg at BTU, which coordinates the research activities of in total 13 departments and institutes in the field of energy at BTU.
